MINISTRY SUMMARY:

The Johnson's live and work among a small semi-nomadic tribe who live in the southern New Guinea rainforest in Papua, INDONESIA. This is a small tribe of less than 400 people who have their own language and culture. They call themselves the Diuwe people. We are involved in teaching the Word of God to them and through incarnational ministry showing them how it applies to everyday life. We are involved in health care, literacy, translation, Bible teaching, and showing God's love through helping improve the quality of life for the people.

A smaller portion of our time is given to being a consultant for the young church in the neighboring tribe (the Momuna) , with a different language. We spend time with the church leaders there, encouraging them to be God's light in a very dark world. We have also had the opportunity to facilitate the translation of the New Testament into this language.

We desire to see a strong church birthed among the Diuwe that is relevant to their culture. We also desire to see the Momuna church stand strong addressing the spiritual, and social, needs in their world.
