Country: Guinea, West Africa Summary:We are currently finishing a year of French learning in Quebec. Lord willing, we will arrive in Kankan, Guinea the second week of January, and we will begin with Maninka language and culture learning for our first year on the field. After that, we are very excited about David supporting the missionary community as a maintenance man. This position utilizes David’s gifts of service, while simultaneously opening up a way into the lives of the Maninka maintenance men that he will work with! We can’t imagine a better job for God to give David as it integrates 4 things he loves: working with his hands, serving others, apologetics, and Africans! Much of Katie's energy will be spent on her roles as wife and mother. The 9 months she spent in Guinea before we were married give her many ideas and dreams of ministries to invest the rest of her energy in: reaching out to the women and children in our neighborhood, discipleship, Bible storying, literacy, and helping with translation and village health projects. We are excited about our individual roles, but we also long for God to use us as a family to show the beauty of Jesus in God-centered marriage and parenting. We want our Maninka friends to see how the love of Jesus has changed our lives so that we can love each other and seek to be like Him. <- Back to: Africa |
