Throughout the year we have a number of one-time events. These would include mission teams, retreats, Drop-ins, Mystery Fun Nights, Glamorama, Royal Rumble, and concerts.
Drop-ins are one of my favorite events. They are free. They are laid back, but they allow students to connect with one another and build relationships. Drop-ins are unstructured, so you never know what to expect! For two hours we eat together, share life, and have fun.
Everyone loves a surprise! The event is always a mystery until you show up. Come for the fun, come for the adventure, come for the mystery!
Retreats are extremely important in the life of the Middle School Ministries. It is here, over the course of a weekend spent together, that students begin to develop a stronger connection to others within the ministry, and a deeper devotion to Jesus Christ. The Fall Retreat is a time when new relationships are formed and old ones are strengthened. Leaders and students get to know and trust each other. It is also a very special place where our students are able to be spiritually fed and challenged. They spend time seriously considering and reflecting on their relationship with Jesus Christ. Many make life-changing decisions to truly be a genuine follower of Him. Retreats are important building blocks in the foundation of Student Ministries for the rest of the school year.
Ladies, this night is just for you. We will stay up late doing nails, hair, and make-up. Now that the boys won’t be here you can eat all you want! We will watch a few chick flicks and talk about why you are so beautiful.
Guys, this night is just for you. Are you ready to rumble? We are going to stay up late playing video games and sports, watching guy movies, eating, and talking about every young man’s battle! Gather with other Middle School guys for the “Rumble” of the year. See if you can handle Buck Buck. Compete to win Killer Hack and Toe Fencing. Maybe you will be crowned the Strongman or Video Game Champion. Dominate at Rubber Band Wars.
We have two different mission teams for Middle School students:
This is our entry-level missions experience designed for Middle School students to get their feet wet in a close-to-home mission experience. This team will be ministering alongside the children’s ministry at Autumn Ridge Church's yearly Vacation Bible School (VBS). Students will have the opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ with children through dramas, teaching, puppets, games, crafts, and worship.
Grade Requirement: 6th-8th grade
Step out in faith and be blessed beyond your wildest imagination! On this unique team you will be exposed to several different ministries in the inner-city of Minneapolis. We will travel to the Philips neighborhood, the most diverse neighborhood in the United States, where we will experience and learn about many different cultures and their spiritual make-up. The team will be involved in many challenging and life changing experiences in three areas: evangelism ministry, mercy/service ministry, and construction ministry.
Grade Requirement: finished 7th-8th grade
