Women's Summer Bible Study - CAPTIVATING

Beginning June 4th and ending August 27th, you are invited to join us for 11 Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30PM for a High School Girls’ Bible study based around the books Captivating and Wild at Heart

Here’s What to Expect…

For the first six weeks, we will be diving into Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge…it is about discovering who you already are and who God has created you to be…as a woman.  A woman who, at her core, was made for romance, made to play an irreplaceable role in a shared adventure, and who really does possess a beauty all her own to unveil.  The woman God had in mind when he made Eve…and when He made you… Glorious, Powerful and Captivating.

The last four weeks are a journey into Wild at Heart by John Eldredge, a devotional for guys, which will open our eyes to the mind and heart of a man as God has created him to be.  He has a battle to fight, a beauty to rescue and an adventure to live.  Both books allow us to see the true heart and reflection of God in both genders and challenge each reader to become the man or woman that was created in the image of God Himself.

Our goals are to show you biblical principles that will help you grow into valued, beautiful, strong, God-centered women.  Throughout this study we will intentionally be presenting not only biblical truths, but also a wide range of discussion.  God’s view of beauty contrasts heavily with that of the world, and we seek to discover how and why.  We are not attempting to push any one belief on a specific topic, but ultimately reveal what God wants for our lives as women.  We want to provide the information you need to make your faith your own and discover who God is.  We are not attempting to play the parental role in your life and firmly believe that you are under your parent’s guidance and authority.  Please talk with your parents about what we are studying so they can be a part of your growth and accountability process.

If you are ever confused, conflicted or concerned about the topics we discuss, or just have questions about your Christian walk, we encourage you to…

1)     pray about it!!
2)     talk to a parent, adult leader or other adult about your thoughts/feelings.
3)     journal your thoughts/feelings to try to work through them.

Our expectations for you are first and foremost to have fun studying the word of God!  It is an amazing book that is full of wonderful promises and truths.  Second, be honest with yourself… and be honest with God.  Every healthy and deep relationship is built upon trust and open communication.  Until you can begin to dig deeper – past the typical Sunday School answers – you will not be able to find the root of any problem or solution.

Provided for each individual will be a study guide with curriculum to be completed each day of the week that we will be meeting.  Each daily devotional should take about 30-45 minutes to complete.  Included in that curriculum will be reading assignments both from the Bible and Captivating or Wild at Heart, questions to ask yourself, and journaling opportunities.  No one will be reading these journals – they are for your own reflections, thoughts, and feelings.

Again, we want to encourage each daughter of Christ at Autumn Ridge Church (and friends from outside the church!) to participate in this great adventure during the summer of 2008.  We as women were meant to live an incredible life with a passion to serve God and others.  Be on the look-out for more information about how you can be romanced by our Creator, play in irreplaceable role in a shared adventure and unveil the beauty that God has instilled in each of us.

“‘Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.’  Proverbs 4:23

Above all else.  Why?  Because God knows that our heart is core to who we are.  It is the source of all our creativity, our courage, and our convictions.  It is the fountainhead of our faith, our hope and of course, our love!” – Captivating
