Ministry Opportunities

It was Jesus who exemplified service when he took a towel and a basin of water and washed the feet of His twelve disciples (John 13:5). He said so clearly, “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve…” (Matthew 20:28) and “I am among you as one who serves” (Luke 22:27).

Our small groups within the High School ministry consists of quarterly small group sessions based on topical and exegetical biblical studies. Each small group lasts 10 weeks with a 3 week layover between small group sessions. Your responsibility is to get to know students within small groups and divide them up accordingly into small groups. The idea is to allow students to get to know others within the student ministry while setting up a system where some of the more solid spiritual students within the ministry can have the opportunity to pour into the lives of others.

Music/Worship Team

Do you play an instrument or sing and would like to be a part of our worship team? There are lots of opportunities to use your talents. Teams are developed by the coordinator and are used on a rotation with the needs of the worship.

Drama Team

Come try out your skill in drama.  You never know what talents you have unless you try. Responsibilities include finding and acting out dramas between 2 and 4 times per month. Dramas will intentionally surround the needs of the ministry including upcoming events, curriculum, and illustrations during youth services. Other potential ministry ideas: wordless dramas.

Within this ministry, part of the training will be to visit 4 other churches to research effective ways of making others welcome within our ministry. If visitors are found to be visiting, this team will be responsible for having them fill out a visitor card so the follow up team can contact them later in the week. Also, this team is responsible for taking attendance at each function. Other potential ideas for this ministry: wear something visible to indicate your involvement in this ministry.

Event and Retreat Team

This team plans and helps with events throughout the year. This team comes up with great ideas for our retreats and events. Scheduled retreats occur throughout the year. Normally planning for a retreat occurs around 6 months out. The purpose of this team is to meet to determine the direction of each larger event. As an adult leader, you must be willing to assist with student interviews if needed and have the ability to maturely discuss spiritual issues with each student. An interview process is necessary with the existing Event and Retreat team to ensure each member's philosophy is moving in the same direction as the rest of the team.
