Autumn Ridge Church has two distinct styles of worship, all driven by a central set of worship core values. These values help us to incorporate the rich heritage of Christian worship we have inherited and share the gospel in a relevant way with our contemporary culture.

Our worship is evangelical.

The gospel is the content of our worship. Each style of worship is focused on retelling and reenacting the gospel, the story of salvation through Jesus Christ. The story is retold in scripture, prayers, creeds, hymns, and modern worship songs and reenacted through Baptism and Communion. Like Paul, we are not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Rom 1:16). The gospel is Good News, so our worship is a celebration of God’s grace.

Our worship is biblical.

It is saturated with and guided by scripture. The Bible is God’s Word to us, so we sing scripture, pray scripture and read scripture. Scripture reveals a God who desires to communicate with his people. We believe that worship is a conversation where God speaks to us through his Word, and we respond to Him in prayer and praise.

Our worship Reflects Christ’s Redemption.

We celebrate the power of God to rescue and save mankind. Redemptive worship recognizes that God desires to be reconciled with mankind and that He took the initiative to redeem us, purchasing our salvation by the death and resurrection of his Son, Jesus. The cross is the central feature of redemptive worship and redemptive worship is characterized by gratitude and hope.

Our worship is Trinitarian.

We recognize the distinctive nature of the holy, triune God who exists eternally as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Our worship celebrates the sovereign reign of the Father, the atoning work of the Son and the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit.

Our worship is Participatory.

Congregational participation is a priority. A congregation gathers in the name of Christ to respond to His love. Our activity in worship reminds us of the activity of God in our world and calls us to participate in his saving work.

Our worship is God-honoring.

God-honoring worship is all about God, who He is and what He has done. It celebrates God’s transcendence, his exalted majesty, as well as His immanence, his nearness. Worship is an act of spiritual formation, so it is vital that we worship God as he reveals himself both in the Bible, through His Son and through the Holy Spirit’s work in our hearts.

Types of Worship Programs

Worship Services

Because we are a diverse gathering of believers in a diverse community, we have two distinct worship formats to choose from. The 9:00AM Traditional
Service is led by the choir and orchestra; the 5:30PM Saturday and 10:30AM Sunday Services are led by a band and Vocal team. However, all services are guided by our Worship Philosophy and Worship Core Values, providing an essential unity of spirit and purpose to both of these worship expressions.

  • 5:30PM Contemporary Service
  • led by a band and vocal team
  • Discipleship Hour – Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

Our purpose on Saturday nights is to provide a service where we meet with Christ through worshiping the risen Lord together and taking communion every week. The Saturday Service is a family friendly service, and families are encouraged to worship together during the worship hour from 5:30-6:40 pm. Nursery through PreK programming is offered during the service. For those staying for fellowship, we offer a Saturday Night Dinner.

9:00AM Traditional Service with hymns, choir, organ, and orchestra
Our purpose on Sunday mornings is to provide a service where we meet with Christ through worshiping the risen Lord together through hymns, spiritual songs, choir anthem, Creeds, scripture, and Biblical teaching.  Nursery, Pre-School, and Sunday School classes (K through 5th grade) are offered during this service. Fellowship HotSpots throughout the building offer light breakfast assortment along with fellowship and live streaming of the worship services.

10:30AM Contemporary Service led by a band and vocal team
Our purpose on Sunday mornings is to provide a service where we meet with Christ through worshiping the risen Lord together through modern worship style songs, scripture, prayers, and Biblical teaching.  Nursery, Pre-School, and Sunday School classes (K through 5th grade) are offered during this service.

Regularly we use drama to help illustrate the sermon topic or service theme. We also us drama during our musical at Easter. If you are interested in using your dramatic talents, please contact Pastor Alan Shoumaker at Shoumaker.Alan@AutumnRidgeChurch.org.

Saturday Night Dinner

Saturday Night Dinner

The Saturday Night Dinner is a relaxed, sit-down meal designed to extend the conversation with God and each other beyond the sanctuary walls after the Emmaus Service.

Worship Ministries Choirs, Orchestra, Band, and Vocal Teams

Our weekly choir rehearsal is a time of spiritual and musical preparation to lead worship. The choir rehearses each Wednesday night in the sanctuary from 6:30-8:00 pm. We worship, pray, study the Bible and prepare to lead the congregation in worship. As well as participating in the 9:00 service, the choir sings at special seasonal outreach events. If you would like more information about joining the choir, contact the worship department at Worship@AutumnRidgeChurch.org.

The orchestra is led by Dr. Alan Shoumaker. If you enjoyed playing an instrument in high school, you’ll be amazed at how quickly you can regain your last level of study. The orchestra adds a wonderful spirit of enthusiasm to our 9:00 Traditional Service. If you would like more information about joining the orchestra, contact worship department at Worship@AutumnRidgeChurch.org.

 Orchestra Schedule for 2017
The orchestra will accompany the congregational music every Sunday.  They also frequently accompany choir anthems.  Rehearsals are usually at 8 am on Sunday mornings in the sanctuary.

If you are musically gifted with the ability to play a band instrument (keyboard, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, drums or percussion) or sing in a small vocal group, we are  always interested in more musicians joining our team. There is an audition process for joining the Worship Team, which helps us to understand your strengths and abilities. Our Worship Teams meet on Tuesday nights to prepare to lead the worship services on the weekend.

If you are interested and would like more information, please contact Pastor Jamie Robinson at Robinson.Jamie@AutumnRidgeChurch.org or by calling the church office at (507) 288-8880.

CHILDREN’S CHOIR (Grades 2nd – 5th)

Occasionally our CHILDREN’S CHOIR sings in the worship services on Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings.

The Choir meets for one rehearsal during the week before the scheduled weekend services.

If you are interested in joining this choir, please contact the worship department at worship@AutumnRidgeChurch.org or by calling the church office at (507) 288-8880.
