Grades 8-12

The Dominican Republic is a country in the Caribbean and borders Haiti.

High school students will experience ministry  life in the Caribbean by partnering with TIME ministries.  Students will build a church for a Dominican congregation form the foundation up.

They will also minister in villages surrounding Santa Domingo using faith stories, music, drama, and crafts to convey the message of God’s love to the Dominican Nationals.

Students will experience culture and local markets.

Students will be exposed to Dominican culture by touring the oldest church in the western hemisphere.

FAQ’S

Do you use the current grade or the grade the student will be in following the summer?

Current grade the student is in when applying. 2016-17 school year.

What is the cost of the Trip?

$1595

How will students travel to the Dominican Republic?

Students will take a bus chartered by Autumn Ridge Church to the airport and will fly to the Dominican Republic.

Are there ways for student to raise money for their trip?

Yes! Students can participate in the hire a student program, send mission support letters to friends and family, mission commissioning offering/fundraiser.

Where will my student be staying?

Students will be staying in the TIME Ministries center in Santo Domingo. This will be a dorm style setting. Students will have twin size beds. Students will need to bring there own bedding. There are american outlets.  There is plumbing but no hot water. See above for packing list.

Anything about the culture that we should be aware of?

For Church Only!

It is offensive if:

  • girls showing their shoulders
  • boys showing their legs (no shorts)
  • girls showing legs above the knee
  • jeans being worn

What medical prevention does my student need prior to traveling?

Every country has different requirements.  We advise that you contact your doctor and or a travel clinic.

What is the weather like?

The weather in Santo Domingo is very hot! The average high is 90 degrees and low of 73 degrees.

Will cell phones work in Santo Domingo?

No, cell phones will not work for calling. Students will be able to use them for pictures if they wish.

Will my student need spending money?

No, your student will not need to bring spending money. Everything will be provided.

Is the food and water safe?

Yes the food and water will be safe to eat and drink. Water will be bottled or prepared in advance for use.
