Rochester Network for Re-entry


Men's Bible Study Leader: Teach and model the Word of God for men in prison or recently released form jail. Complete volunteer application and training (training for leaders going into the jail is provided by the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center 

Commit to 2-4 hours in prep and teaching on a monthly, bi-weekly or weekly basis. 

Prepare and lead Bible study. Model God's love and facilitating the study of God's principles found in the Bible. 

Have a passion for prison ministry. Must be a good listener and encourager.

Pen pal for Incarcerated Men:  Write letters to individuals who are incarcerated, encouraging them and showing them the love of Jesus.

The length of commitment is the inmate's incarceration. 

Pray weekly for the inmate, and write at least once a month.  Go through compete training. 

Have a passion for prison ministry.  Good communicator and a passion to share the Gospel.

Mentors for men, women or children:  

Approximately 2 hours per week. Meet with a mentee for the length of time that he/she is involved with RNFR. 

Have a passion for ministry to crime-affected individuals and build a trusting relationship with them.

Have a desire to share Christ with others, be a good listener and encourager.

Community Work Service Supervisor: Supervise and build relationships with youth sentenced to complete community work service hours.

2-5 hours per week, supervise youth as they complete work service hours, build relationships and encourage hard work

Have a passion for youth needing guidance and encouragement.

Be a good role model and be able to relate and communicate well with youth. Encourage "teachable moments" and direct youth toward achieving goals.

Youth Bible Study Leader at Institutional Facility: Teach and model the Word of God to youth incarcerated in the Juvenile Detention Center or VonWald Youth Shelter

2-3 hours of prep and teaching on a weekly basis

Have a passion and concern for youth who are incarcerated and have a desire to help them redirect their lives through Bible study.

Be a good teacher and communicator who is able to encourage youth while being a good listener

Writing Letters to Incarcerated Youth: Develop a long distance correspondence relationship with youth based on truth and accountability

Pray for this person at least once a week and write them at least once a month.

Have a desire to share Christ with others and build a trusting relationship with them through correspondence.

Enjoy writing letters or e-mails, be a good communicator and encourager

Locker Room for Life at Hunters Ridge:  This is a learning center where you will assist with Bible Club, homework, reading and crafts.

Two hours or more per week developing relationships with children encouraging their growth and development.

Have a passion for ministry to the poor by showing Christ's love through helping with school work and crafts.

Relate well to children from other cultures while teaching them the Word of God as well as academic subjects and crafts.

Locker Room for Life at Hunters Ridge Team Leader:  Oversee either the educational or spiritual aspects of the ministry.

6-8 hours per week overseeing programs and volunteers while developing relationships with children.

Have strong leadership, organizational and communication skills and a passion for leading others on a team.

Enjoy taking a leadership role, coordinating volunteers and arranging teacher conferences.
